Guiding Growth – Guarding Hometown Values

Why I'm Running

I’m running for Mayor because the work of preserving Coalville’s unique small-town life is not done! I’m passionate about protecting our rural lifestyle while ensuring the public voice remains at the center of every decision. My commitment runs deep, and I’d be honored to earn your support as we build a vibrant future that stays true to our roots.

About Lynn

Shortly after I married my husband, Jay, we started the adventure of renovating his old, neglected farmhouse in a little town I’d never heard of before– Coalville. I quickly came to understand why this place was so close to his heart. The sense of place and community here was unlike anything I had ever experienced. I’ve been an active member of this community since 2007 and a full-time resident for the past five years.

I grew up in Salt Lake City and attended Cottonwood High School. After graduation, I went on to Brigham Young University on a piano performance scholarship. Later, I changed my major to accounting, but music and the arts have remained an important part of my life. In my 30-year career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), I’ve helped numerous small and mid-sized businesses grow and thrive. That business mindset will be a valuable asset in managing city resources and supporting economic development. At the same time, my love for local art, history, and cultural events will bring balance to the growth pressures we are facing today.

Together, Jay and I have a big, blended family with 10 children and a growing group of grandchildren. We are passionate about restoring old homes, preserving Coalville’s unique character, and building a strong future for the next generation. Whether it’s organizing community events, working alongside neighbors, or simply enjoying the beauty of our valley, I feel grateful every day to call Coalville home.

Platform

An Informed and Involved Public

A healthy democracy depends on transparency and citizen engagement. As Mayor, I will:
• Host a monthly Open Door Night where residents can ask questions, share concerns, and present ideas.
• Provide a regular newsletter with updates from each City department so everyone knows what’s happening.
• Establish a Citizen’s Advisory Committee with representatives from different community interests to ensure diverse voices are heard.

Growth on Our Terms

Coalville is growing, but it must happen in a way that protects our character and values. I will:
• Build a team of professional advisors to guide decision-making and strategic planning.
• Conduct legal review of our ordinances and zoning to ensure the proper policy guardrails are in place to guide growth in the direction of our community vision.
• Support efforts for conservation easements, Main Street revitalization, local business growth, and cultural events/placemaking.

An Effective City Team

Coalville deserves a City government that is accountable, efficient, and prepared for the future. I will:
• Restore administrative oversight committees for Council Members to strengthen accountability and collaboration.
• Work with the Council to codify rules of procedure and city policy so we operate with clarity and consistency.
• Implement annual goal setting and a 5-year fiscal plan with clear benchmarks to track progress, improve Coalville’s financial outlook, and identify potential budgetary shortfalls.
